My Cats

My three cats are basically my babies..less needy of course, but they can get up to quite a bit of nonsense. They are all strays, taken off the streets of New Jersey. They are all healthy and range from 8 years to 4 already. I love them all, which is why it's only natural to take pictures. I tell them to not move, but they don't really listen! The striped one is Gabriel, the black one is Raphael, the calico is Lucy. Precious.

California's Wild Plants

California has some of the most interesting wild plants and flowers growing, the main reason being it's so dry, so the plants are either very spiky or have very thick leaves and are cactus like. A couple months ago I went on a hike simply to use my macro button in search of some beautiful plants.

Flowers Make the World go Round

Flowers are one of natures simplest and most beautiful creations. Without them life would be rather dull. I adore flowers. The smell, the soft feel, the vibrant colours, and the details. The details to flowers are why I cherish my macro button on my camera, for me it might as well spell magic! So, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite flower photos-and I have a lot.

One Can Never Have Enough Desserts

In order from top to bottom....

My Dessert Portraits

I LOVE LOVE LOVE baking. Did I mention I love it? So baking goes hand in hand with afterwards taking some snaps of my glorious creations. The accomplishment of creating that perfect work of art that will be hopefully devoured by family and friends is the highest form of flattery. OK, so my creations aren't the most nutritious in terms of emm..healthy, but they put a smile on anyone's face and make you feel just a little bit, if not a lot better. I guess the photos make it last much longer, if only I could make them scratch and sniff... which is why I just have to keep on baking. The perfect excuse. Pictured from top... Chocolate Cupcake filled with Peanut Butter and topped with a Chunky Peanut Butter Frosting, The 8 Layer Ghirardelli Chocolate Mousse cake topped with Chocolate Ganache, Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting.

A Beautiful Wedding

It was such a beautiful day, just the right amount of clouds, not too hot, no rain (it is Southern California), and my camera. Perfect. I captured some memorable moments, and loved every second of it. The wedding was at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, for our friends Rose and Carmen, and of course  it was an honour. It was all outside, ceremony and the reception, with some amazing creme brulee french toast among other brunch style buffet items. Wonderful!

Introduction

My name is Katrin and I love photos.
I love the special paper, the gloss, the matte, the smell, putting them in albums, and most of all taking them. The smile that emerges on friends faces when they see them, the memories, the good times and even the sad, it is truly priceless. I am a creative person, I have always been, there are many art forms that I am passionate about, and photos are one of them. You'd believe me if you saw all my albums finding a room for themselves in my diminishing shelves. Yes, they have a mind of their own, and they're taking over. I can't leave the house without my camera, and it's not small. If that isn't a sign that I need to take photos then I don't know what is. I love details. Patterns on cakes, the buds on flowers, the mortar between brick keeping the building together- the simplest things that we take for granted that make our life special, even if just for a minute. Moments in time, frozen forever. This is why I love to photograph weddings, they contain all of these details, or mother and child, or an engagement, graduation, all the occasions that we live for. Two years ago I had my own wedding, and I remember how hard it was to find the right person, not the cheapest, or the most expensive, but someone who loves their job so much that I relive all the detailed moments when I look at those photos in years to come.  So this blog is for all those people who love photos too, or who need someone to capture their details in life... by me, if you happen to live in Los Angeles!  This is my passion, enjoy.
